| THE
UNIVERSITY CITY HALL
In this time of growth and prosperity that the UAE
enjoys under the wise leadership of H.H.The President
Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and under the patronage
of H.H.Sh.Dr.Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi many schemes
were launched to facilitate the UAE's cultural development. |
 |
| The University City Hall was built as a part of the
marvelous cultural edifice to provide researchers, pioneers
and scholars with the required cultural information.
Certainly the hall construction formulated by His Highness
was ambitious, because it really corroborated its suitability
of assimilating the great number of scientific and cultural
activities continuously held in the Emirate of Sharjah.
The hall was built in an extremely superb style to
attract to researchers and scholars. The hall, which
is considered as one of the very few such halls in
the Middle East, lies on the western side of Sharjah
University city, with a seating capacity for 1325
people and with a total area of 1630 sq.metres. It
is surrounded by a big area of 50,000 sq.metres with
an extensive care parking facility, good enough for
1200 cars. |

|
| The 26 meter high Hall is topped with
a fine dome bearing the Islamic architectural design
of 50 metres in diameter and 13 metre height, circled
by areas patterned by marble tiles covering an area
of 15-300 square metres. The hall is provided with three
main gates with an additional door for providing services.
The building is built in five floors. The basement includes
a front open parlor paddled with wood and marble. In
fact this exquisite decoration and architectural works
are in complete harmony with other buildings and sections.
The stage that could seat 810 people reveals the splendid
touches of beauty. The facility includes a VIP majlis. |
|
| The first floor comprises
eight private terraces wide enough for 90 people, the
VIP majlis and also the backroom allotted for the dramatists
and drama production.
The second floor comprises the conference hall equipped with a round table
that seats 60 persons, a VIP majlis as well as the
administration offices.
|
 |
| The third floor comprises the upper
terraces that seat 425 people and access will be through
hanging bridges.
The building is provided with several advanced facilities,
which includes the ultra modern technology for lighting,
music, ultra sound, translation, show screens, etc.
All these facilities are fully computerized. Four
elevators were installed in this hall plus two electric
ones. The rest of floors are allotted for service
and maintenance works. |
