The conditions for selecting
for the Award are as follows:
- The publisher should be a regular participant of the
Sharjah World Book Fair with minimum 10 years' participation.
- The publisher should be a participant in the current
session during which he gets nominated for the prize.
- Special attention would be given to Science publications,
its author and its style of printing.
- Academic advantage of such publications shall be thoroughly
verified and the feedback from the reading sector of
the community shall be collected.
- Translations and revised editions are acceptable.
Perfection in quality shall be verified. Forged editions
are not allowed.
- Will make sure of the adherence to copy right laws.
The award will be accorded
to a publisher who is
- a member of the publishers union in his own country.
- a member of the Arab publishers union.
- Having minimum 200 publications and honoring the
publishing regulations as far as the intellectual
property rights and the author's copyrights are concerned.
- The publisher should have published at least ten
publications during the nominating year.
The nominations shall
be done by:
- the Publishers' Union of own country (or)
- the Arab publishers union of own country (or) by
the Arab book fair of own country where there is no
publisher's union.
Requirements for selection:
Nominated publisher should present the following documents:
- An application,
- A list of publications,
- Samples of the publications - 50 titles should be
submitted in two copies each at the time of election
to the Award.
- A text about the publishing house, its attitudes,
relations and activities.
Dates
Election of the Award would be annually, from the
1st of January to the end of September.
Announcement of Award winners
The result shall be announced in the month of October
every year.
Award distribution
Awards would be accorded to winners during that year's
Sharjah World Book Fair and in the presence of all
participating publishers.
The Jury
A Jury of experts shall be responsible for electing
the winners from the nominations and their decision
shall be final.
Specification of Award
Usually three publishers (could be more or less as
per the discretion of the Jury) shall be announced
as winners for this award, which amounts Dhs. 20,000/-
plus a memento and certificate.
